broadband speed not as it should be

hello ppl ive just getting broadband back in iam with a company call utility warehouse and the isp is with opel telecom now the problem i am having is that i suppose to be getting 20mb but only getting 10mb i have a netgear dg834g v5 and the stats says that iam getting

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19347 kbps 1020 kbps
Line Attenuation 14.5 db 5.2 db
Noise Margin 11.9 db 14.5 db

so any help on what i might need to get near enough 20mb

Looks like the modem is syncing at 20 Mbps (19.347 Mps) so if you are only getting 10 problem is elsewhere.

Speed tests are end-to-end so anything between you and the ISP can affect speed.

Try doing speed tests to servers near your location.

Try doing traceroute (tracert in Windows) and/or the line quality test on the BBR tools page.

At the speed you have even relatively minor issues will have a big impact. May even be because the site you are going to is not capable of serving data that fast.

When you are doing the test be sure no one else on your LAN is access the Internet and that no other applications on your PC as either accessing the Internet or doing computational or disk intensive task. Use wired not wifi connection.
