Re: Didn't this happen before?

I use adBlock+ and its more of a screen than whiteout. Sometimes, it is a PITA because the blog (say Gawker or AOL) decides to embed videos (vimeo, viddler, aolcdn, aolimages, blogsmith...) that adblock along with NoScript deem as cross-scripting or adverts (which most aren't but can be annoying with autoplay or load times).

I am getting more annoyed not in the fact they can or should place ads (afterall I would like revenue for ads that are relevant on my blog), but that I am seeing ads embedded in distributed videos from media that are added by the blog, not the originator. And the targetted ads are not expected (femine products ad played infront of a video game???).

As long as there are ways to block this crap, I am for it. But if it gets out of control, I am reforming as a Luddite! :0)

yes but using the news paper analogy making a screening device for a news paper would be quite odd unless the used some colors only in adds and you could use a color filter

a screen just sounds awkward in the contex of the analogy
