 | Westell 6100 bridge mode difficulties Here's the scoop. I have a westell 6100 modem (default IP 192.168.1.254). I have put it in bridged mode, and selected "yes use the public ip address". Using the Linksys WRT54G2 V1 router I have enabled automatic configuration of DHCP and assigned it a LAN address of 192.168.2.1. I can connect to the router and get local only. I have also statically assigned an ip to my machine to no avail.
Any suggesstions?
Thanks for your time |

 | I should probably mention my goal is to get out to the internet if that wasn't obvious. Sorry! |

 | Did you enter your ISP username and password in the router setup? |

If the westell is set for bridge mode you need to change the internet connection type of the linksys to pppoe Change the computers tcp/ip setting to automatically obtain ip address |

 | I found this guide that I had followed after posting: »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »What is the proper way to configure a Westell modem and a Linksys router?
I followed everything exactly to a TEEE. Still local only. I have tried this method with two different routers. Either both of those routers are bad, or the modem. I can access the internet through the modem. I have used one of the routers at my last residence with cable with no problem. |

Plug you computer into the 6100 directly it will assign you an ip address. I believe the ip assigned is 192.168.1.1 to the 6100 so you will receive 192.168.1.xxx from the westel. Assign the 6100 a local address depending on your internal addresses 192.168.0.XXX which is normal depending on your router. Place the 6100 back in bridge mode. Word of caution your router will assign an ip based on its internal DHCP sttings so you should assign an IP that is not being served by the router i.e. dhcp set to 192.168.X.100 to 192.168.X.150. you should then be able to access the 6100 for mait. But, having said all this unless you reset the 6100 to default again there should be no reason you would have to access the settings. |
