Utilization must not be an issue in your area its slow like I mentioned above almost everyday in my area, I rent my own L4D2 server and am watching my ping go up and down everyday at certain times mainly in the evening when I can game. But I recently discovered that Centurylink has dsl in my area but they use the same up to clause like the cable company does on their 10mb service. But they do say it is a dedicated line I might give them a try and see if its any better, most of the other members of the gaming clan I am in use dsl providers, most of them live in larger towns or cities where they have better options and those that have good dsl providers love it they say they never have slowdowns runs the same all the time, equals constant pings.

I use to have Century Link for internet, I'm not sure which games you play, but with Xbox Live it was utterly terrible, and I could only play at around 2 or 3 in the morning without lag. I think I posted a review on it on this website. It was reliable at first, but then we had a big storm and it was never the same out here. Maybe it will be different in Edenton, but It's not here.

I mostly game on pc, Bad Company 2, Call of Duty BO, L4D2 and others, but I am playing on dedicated servers so when my internet is acting up I immediatly know it and lately its been everyday from about 4pm-11pm and on weekends it could be off and on all day, so they know its a utilization issue but keep wanting to send techs out here and the last 2 never made it here rescheduled for a 3rd time. When gaming on xbox live since its p2p gaming your lag could also be the caused by the person hosting the game you connect to. Been using the email internet support on their site (get better results) cause their phone techs are usually people reading from a book, but been talking with them for going on 3 months and its not getting any better if anything my internet is worse. You are lucky yours is running good mine used to awhile back.

Well its been 5 months and its not any better than when I first started reporting the poor speed, Friday night was getting 1-3 mb down and Saturday was even worse some of the test didn't even get 1 down, I had moved my L4D2 server from NY to Chicago cause the NY servers were having problems, and when my internet is running like it should i get 58-63 ping Saturday I was getting 153-172 ping my other 3 friends were having steady normal pings but not mediacom high speed internet (I try to keep a straight face when saying high speed) I thought there was a quality of service they have to atleast try to maintain when they sign a contract with the county, well its definalty not being met here. I hope they bring a different company in here when their contract is up, they really need to bring in another cable comapany and a good DSL company one that is truely dedicated all the way and not just to your house you know like the phone companies dsl, its never good to have just one big company in the area always need competiotion so they don't get lazy and let it get like my internet is now but then again if there was competition here medaicom would have left by now cause they don't seem to like or do very well when there is competition.
