Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan

Actually, it's slightly off the coast from what I gather.

But dayum ... 8.9? The largest quake recorded was 9.5 magnitude in Chile in 1960. Tsunami's and everything.

I can't imagine what an 8.9 would do to SoCal.

Edit: There is some helicopter video footage that captures the Tsunami surge coming in like a big mudslide and it is unreal. CNN may have some of it here: »www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/0···iref=BN1

In northern cal people are quaking in their boots. Yes pun is intended.
We could have waited till after Hawaii before closing roads...

What else should I fear?

yah.. some of my co-workers from back-east were asking "what is an 8.9 like?" .. it told them that it is "unimaginable" .. I can't even fathom it.. makes our little 6.5 - 7.1's seem tiny..
