• Issues like this can take some time trying to figure out what is going on. • Is the slow DL something new, or has it been slow from the start? • Any new HW or SW recently installed? • Any SW firewall? • Are you connected directly to the MODEM or wireless? • Go here » www.zoomtel.com/techsupp ··· x5.shtml and check for the latest drivers. What is the model number of the ZOOM? • Try running some Java speed tests. |

DL speed had been gotten a little better after putting the DSL on its own line. The zoom X5 is the only thing really new Avira Firewall Connected to the router. Drivers up to date I will run some more speed tests. |

• Your Tweak Test and the LQT look OK. That is why it becomes a game of exclusion/testing to see what is holding you back.
• How far are you from the CO/RT?
• Make sure that you have filters on all the phone lines.
• Were the speeds better before the Zoom?
• Can you get into the MODEM/Router and see your signals and other stats? |

• Your MODEM/Router is syncing at the correct speed.
Downstream Speed 6016 Kbps Upstream Speed 768 Kbps
• All your signals are good to excellent.
• You are on Fast Path.
• It looks like the box **might** have an issue.
• Are you connected via NIC or USB?
• Run some Java Speed Tests. |

• I call a desktop PC a "box".
• In Ariva, go to Configure AntiVir > Firewall > Adapter rules > Then under your internet connection, at ICMP protocol, make the following changes:
Incoming blocked types: no type. Outgoing blocked types: no type. Assume flooding if delay between packets is less than 1 ms. Don't reject fragmented ICMP packets.
Run some speed tests.
• If WebGuard is enabled, disable it. Run some speed tests.
• Open a Command Prompt and type: ping 17.0.0.1 -n 10
It should be Ping 0.0.0.2 -n 10
It should be about 3 ms
C&P the summary data at the end and not the whole ping test.
• Ping 192.168.1.1 -n 10
It should be about 3 ms
C&P the summary data at the end and not the whole ping test.
• Check your NIC Duplex properties and see what it says. Make sure is to Auto Full or Auto Negotiate. |

• I hate these issues. Everything tests fine, but we have a speed issue.
• Do you have your old MODEM to swap out for testing purposes?
• Call your ISP and ask for a line check and a signal check. Also ask them to check the CO to make sure you are provisioned correctly for your service.
Open a Command Prompt and type: ping 10.0.0.1 -n 10 This should be the MODEM's IP
It should be about 3 ms
C&P the summary data at the end and not the whole ping test.

Don't have old modem, that crapped out. Could it be in the Wireless router? D-Link DIR-625 Modem set to bridge. Will call ISP. Got the ping to work using below
Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 10, Lost = 0 Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms |

That is the router. On the surface it looks OK. You never mentioned that you have a router (D-Link DIR-625). Pull the router and run some speed tests.
• If that does not help, deactivate the Avira Firewall and try some more speed tests.
• Open a Command Prompt and type: ping 10.0.0.1 -n 10 This should be the MODEM's IP (I think that Is this the MODEM's IP? If not use the IP that you user to get into the MODEM.

• I told you that stuff like this is a bear to troubleshoot.
Have you: Call your ISP and ask for a line check and a signal check. Also ask them to check the CO to make sure you are provisioned correctly for your service. |

Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL BlankUsing the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NICs (Ethernet adapters) MTU to 1492. Save/Exit DrTcpRebootRerun the Tweak TestRun Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPsAlso, test here » ftp:// ftp1.optonline.net/test512Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test. |

ran some tests on wireless laptop, no differnet in the speeds there also, 2475 and 670. Doesn't look like I'm going to get more until my ISP gets back to me. |

• Yea, I guess that we have to wait until your ISP pipes up. You have to be a pest with those folks. Ride them like a wild bull.
• Did you check all your filters on the phone lines?
• It sure looks like it is something external to your boxes, MODEM and router. The only wild card is the MODEM, but all the tests and the MODEM stats look good. |
