Speedstream 5360 and performance under congestion

Hey all, I just want to share my experiences with the Speedstream 5360. I've been using it for a while and had a few problems that were bugging me:
• I could only transfer at full speed in one direction at a time
• Excessive buffering, 1.5s in the upload direction in practice, even larger according to Netalyzr
• Saturating upload would cause severe disruption to VoIP traffic

I tried throttling my Internet connection via my router, but that involved manually specifying the speed, and didn't solve my VoIP problems completely. Recently, I realized I could replace it for under $30, so I bought a TP-Link TD-8816 and tried it out. It didn't change my speeds at all, which makes sense given that I only get about 524kB/s down and 80kB/s up in practice. However, I can now transfer at full speed in both directions simultaneously, transfer rates are more steady when the link is saturated, and VoIP traffic is handled much more consistently. I'm sharing this info for the sake of anyone who might be having similar problems.

The 5360 has a 10 Mbps Half Duplex Ethernet port that had issues with some Routers. See if your 5360 is one that needed a Firmware Update.

Thanks, but I've already seen that page. My 5360's part number is 060-5360-002, so as far as I can tell there are no upgrades available for it.

You are correct. Only the -003 and -023 are involved with Firmware updates being available.
