U-Verse cap includes "Internet" only?"the company will be implementing a new 150GB monthly usage cap for all DSL customers and a new 250 GB cap on all U-Verse users"
For U-Verse users, are we certain that these caps include U-Verse TV and Phone service? Or does it really only include "U-Verse Internet", i.e. the VDSL equivalent of AT&T's ADSL service, and the equivalent to cable modem Internet access for cable customers? Seems a bit odd that AT&T would promote U-Verse TV like they do and at the same time put such a cap on it. Do cable TV (not cable modem) users also have such caps on TV viewing?
It should be easy enough for AT&T to break out the individual packets for all three services, especially considering that all the TV content supposedly originates on AT&T's "private IP network". So there's no need to cap all U-Verse packets (vs. just Internet usage) to try and squeeze out Internet-based alternatives to U-Verse TV. (I'm assuming that this is actually part of AT&T's motivation for implementing caps, though I really haven't thought this through yet...)
250 GB is mighty thin for those of us that routinely record U-Verse TV programming on a DVR STB with a 250GB hard drive. Our household of five TV viewers can easily fill that thing up in a month. |

I think we can safely assume that the bandwidth measured is internet use only, and it does not include U-Verse TV watching. |

I don't think we should "assume" anything. I just received my notice email, and the chart on the FAQ page specifically mentions TV. says 150 gb is about 100 hours. I know my house goes WAY over that between me and the kid. unless I'm reading this wrong it looks like TV is absolutely included in this. |
