4G in Missouri

So I just discovered something rather shocking and irritating. The Kansas City and Saint Louis metro areas have 4G service, which is great for them. However, the third largest city in the state, Springfield, has no 4G service.

Except for some rural and extremely lightly populated areas just southeast of Springfield.

If it was that Ozark and Nixa were getting 4G service, I might be slightly confused, but most of both of those towns are also not getting 4G. The service extents to a bunch of empty fields.

Curious to see if this was a reality or not, I drove to one of those empty fields and got a perfect signal.

Needless to say, I am NOT amused.

EDIT: To add more interesting facts. Joplin, Rolla, Ft. Leonard Wood, Fulton, Sedalia... all have 4G. What moron is deciding the build-out for this? And now that Sprint is going to switch to LTE, will we EVER see 4G?
