I use the grid antenna and I get a steady signal between 78-80dbi, but my ec/io jumps into the 4-5 range. I had a 1/2 inch spacer made just for the grid feedhorn but I do not use it. Since the spacer gives me about an extra 1dbi, and matches my modem with the tower frequency, would it be worth it to use the spacer. I was thinking that even tho it's a 1dbi difference, I was wondering if the frequency mismatch would screw with my ec/io.
Dexter this speed test was with a -78 dBm signal. Don't know or care what the ec/io is. I never bother to check it anymore as I've found it doesn't make much difference in the speed results. I think that at some point trying to make improvements yields little results.
So I put the 1/2 inch spacer on and left the grid alone for a few minutes, the signal was a steady -81dbm with ec/io 5-6. When the grid does not have the half inch spacer on signal was -79dbm with ec/io 4. So I took the half inch spacer off. It is best when left alone.
