Line Monitor group?

I am not exactly a customer yet with Sonic since I am just another hoping off the AT&T boat and onto better horizons (Fusion yay), but I have noticed something that could be a neat feature to add to these sub-forums. I know it was recently request from someone to see what kind of pings customers got and only had gotten one response. I too an curious about the data, and wonder what my pings would be like under fusion. The one sample sadly, really isn't all that relative to me.

I know it is possible to have some sort of line monitoring group setup for free, and I would love to see one setup for sonic.net members so we can see what we're all getting, or relative system performance, or even hook in new customers with cool looking graphs. Yes, graphs always work if they are good.

In short, I've love to see some sort of line monitoring group if possible for sonic.net, and I'd sign up as soon as I hear about that. Otherwise, I can live with the NorCal Group if that isn't possible.

I suggest to use the NorCal forum for now. There don't appear to be enough members interested into monitoring that splitting it by ISP would be necessary. There are currently only 13 monitors in the NorCal group.

For those Sonic.net members who live in southern California, the SoCal group also has line monitoring with currently 11 monitors.

The links to those existing line monitors are:

Northern: »/testhistory?view=7
Southern: »/testhistory?view=25

I've also created a Sonic line monitoring group, if you would like to be added to it, drop me a line here or via instant message and I'll get you squared away. These are all linked in this forums navigation bars as well for quick access.

Yes, I'll be sure to join up once my service goes live next week. I can't wait to see what kind of pings the group gets in the mean time.

Don't look now! That huge 100% packet loss you see in my chart is entirely due to PG&E failing to provide electricity to my home

But, at least my Fusion POTS voice kept working. I guess if I still had a laptop with a modem and charged battery, I could have dialed up!

Put your dsl modem on a UPS and you could have kept the ADSL connection through the power outage!

Good point!

Looks like my line monitoring is pointed at the wrong IP, I'll have to write State again.

It's funny you say this. In the offchance of an apocalyptic Alien invasion, I made sure my modem + wireless router is connected to a UPS haha.

I don't care if I dont have lights! I just need internet!

I got a 3000VA ups here, I run my lights and routers off it when PG&E goes out. These latest storms has been killer, looks like its gone now.

Please sign me up to the line monitoring, definitely would be cool to see that.

No worries, I just noticed I didn't have the line monitoring turned on yet anyways. Just got it set up and should be seeing some good data soon.
