AWS band usage
AT&T only bought less than half national coverage in the AWS auctions. With this purchase of T-Mobile, they get a national set of AWS licenses, and a matching network (already in many cities)!
I agreed with an earlier comment, I see five band (well, more actually) handsets in the future.

T-Mobile already has devices that support gsm 850/900/1900 and 850/900/1900/2100/aws 3g/4g. I expect at&t and t-mobile to increase the number of these devices in the coming months. That way new customers will not need a new phone.
The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. The day he forgives himself, he becomes wise.
they don't need to increase these number of phones; but they can slowly move customers out of the AWS area and use that for something else. With ATT being in the drivers seat with $$$$ to burn its hard telling what they would do with everything they have and will own when its done. The company will be pretty much unstoppable when it comes to wireless communications.
They could even deploy their own mobile TV network if they wanted to.
