If you’re using geo-fenced services like BBC, Netflix, Zattoo and others for more than 3 hours each day you are getting into the red zone. This applies only to video feeds at this time.

The DNS is so they can redirect you to other servers where they proxy the content, thus tricking Netflix, Hulu and others into thinking you are in the US and then pass the streaming content to you through those servers.

We probably have to drop some currently supported platforms. We'll be continuing to support PC, Mac and IOS after a temporary break.

Unless you have a funky DNS configuration, Netflix on PC/Windows and IOS will be back after a reboot.

Good to know, in my case the issue seems to be intermittent with my Boxee Box+Overplay, should cross check with my PC and PS3 to confirm where the issue really is.

True, but even paid services are going to have some "flakiness" to them. I use Overplay still to this day, and it does crap out, for a couple of hours once every couple of weeks.

Unblock US has been flawless for me for 6 months.

Wow cool feature, didn't know that Unblock-us will allow you to watch Netflix US, Canada,UK ,Ireland, Brazil and Mexico. Will try it out tonight.

Is there a site that lists which country version of Netflix has the most current movies (i.e like Brazil has Hunger games, etc..). It would be really cool if you could search all netflix content with search results showing which Netflix your desired movie is on.

The problem I see is that unless they keep adding more bandwidth it may become unreliable because they need the capacity and servers at their end to transmit the stream to you, it's not simply DNS lookups alone that is provided to you.

I feel that way too. Though with unblock us you do get the combination of the two, with a little hassle. Still a better package than cable.

Yes, its a DNS server that points to their proxy, instead of the site.
The proxy then connects to netflix and other sites.
That is the reason why the service costs money, as DNS is free.
Because it can do authentication to its own proxy server before going to netflix and other sites, they can ensure you pay.
All other sites are then simply DNS lookups.

This is especially good for online poker players.
A VPN would identify you as American, and poker sites do not allow Americans to play anymore due to US Law.
With their DNS it only appears to the good sites as American/Unblock-us proxy.
To all the other sites you appear as the originating IP.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem, as of May 16, 2012? I'm currently troubleshooting this issue.

For now, cancelling the service and setting my DNS settings on my router back to auto seems to have fixed the problem. I don't know if the UnblockUs servers are overloaded or what. As I said, I don't understand the technical aspects of their service. All I can say is my internet was f*cked up to the point of uselessess. When i called my ISP tech support, they said it had to do with using Vuze, which I currently am not running. Unless Vuze is secretly running in the background messing with my internet, it seems more likely the Unblock Us router settings were causing the problem. I didn't bother to try to contact them. I'm going to see if not using their service fixes the problem, and if it does, seek another solution to watch U.S. Netflix in Canada. I'll reply if anything changes or it still slows down.

Not sure about ebox vpn. But I can tell you that unblock-us works perfectly with PS3's. I am using a PS3 Fat and PS3 Slim with the service (yes, sometimes simultaneously).
