 | DSLAMS Anyone know what DSLAMS GWI uses??? Just curiosity more than anything. |
|
 | Maybe A tech will stop by the forums... but who knows... |
|
 | reply to erikthebean I know FairPoint uses ASAM 7300's but they are old and don't perform ADSL2+ as good as other DSLAMS (currently have Fairpoint). I keep seeing customers on GWI getting great speeds so i'm curious on what they use. |
|
 | reply to erikthebean A mix of AdTran TA5000s, OCCAMs (don't know exact model #, but are ADSL2+) and Lucent Stingers (most are ADSL2+). |

 | Nice! I just got my line installed in Manchester today actually do you happen to know what they use in Manchester? |
|
 | If I recall correctly there are both Stingers and TA5000s in Manchester. Really depends on what was available when your order provisioned...
An easy way to test would be to plug a phone into the jack that supplies your DSL. Lucent Stingers never provide dialtone, but conversely, TA5000s (at least as configured by GWI) always have a tone. Even with dry loop DSL (you're in NH, so this must be what you have) you'll get a dialtone on a TA5K, but if it's not configured for phone service you'll just get a fast busy signal when attempting to dial out.
Or just call/email them, they should be able to tell you.
I personally like the TA5Ks, but nothing wrong with the Stingers... |

 | So it looks like i'm on a Lucent. No dial tone, and it's set to G.DMT, plus the RDNS is a hint (mnch-co-ls1.gwi.net) i'm assuming the ls1=Lucent Stinger 1. Still better than what I had tho, wish it was ADSL2+, but so far no complaints. |
