has Columbus finally gone DOCSIS 3?

We had some pretty bad weather a few days ago so my 'puter took the day off. I noticed today that the status page for my ARRIS CM550A modem shows DOCSIS 2.0 for channel type. Does this mean two things?? I've finally got 3 out by Lakebottom and I should order the Motorola SB6120 to take advantage of it?

Say it's so and remember April Fool's Day is over for me

possibly, but i assume that they would live d3 for the whole city at the same time......

btw, my modem still says d1.x

btw, i wake up this morning, turn on the monitor to my quad core computer, i have BSOD, can't boot windows, did a pre-boot sys assessment and it says that my primary drive has failed. i'm doing a complete system tests just to make sure, but i think the boot sector of the drive has failed. i don't hear any odd sounds. so it's A) a total drive failure or B) a boot sector virus.

i'm hoping that it's the latter. the only question is, if so, how did i get the virus...........,,.........

typing from my tablet.

Well I will say this at one point I could barely get 3.0 MB on download; today I do a speed test and I am almost at 7.0 MB download. So I don't know what happened lol

But I do know I will have to get me DOCSIS 3 modem soon!

Lots of changes noted at my house...

All of the various speedtest sites have stabilized. They used to be all over the place. Upstream was anywhere from the normal 360k to 1500k (but would always slow back to 360). Downstream would often start out ~15Mb, and slow down to 7-9Mb. Now it's a solid 7/360 on all sites.

Signal levels are significantly different as well, 8dB signal drop. Downstream was +6dBmV, now it's -2dBmV. Upstream was 34dBmV, now it's 42dBvM. Straight run from the lawn ped, new cable drop two years ago, no splitters. Modem is a DPC2100, and it doesn't list the frequencies, so I don't know if the channels are different. The signal is still well within specs, so I'm not worried about it.

In conclusion, yes, something has changed.

It will later this month. The four channel bonding was activated on the 29th.

Cool, hopefully they'll update their site to show when it does go to 3. Then I'll get the new modem.

Guys don't get your hopes up, here in Knoxville the "upgrade" has been done for 2 1/2 months. Last ETA is now may 6.... It's possible but I really really would not suggest to expect it anytime soon. Last time I heard next market to "finish" upgrade is Knoxville.... but who knows with knology. wish you guys the best on your search for D3 lol

I bought the motorola sb6120 about 6 months ago when i heard that columbus might get docsis 3.0, but i have had crap connections till recently, and always saw a green light and only one channel bonded . Bbut for some reason i decided to check the forum to see you guys posting about the speed, and decided to check my modem to see i have 4 channels bonded and connected, no crazy speed yet. but a solid 8.5 down, and 1.7 up, so better then it was last year by a mile. now if they can only let the flood gates open we can all be happy.

It must've been turned on overnight, I surely didn't get these speeds yesterday! By the way, the speedtest site really does show way too high.

Looks like it's time to order my modem from Newegg Ran four speed tests this morning after a reboot and ranged from 29.7/6.7 (Brighthouse) to 27.1/6.4 (Knology). This down by Lakebottom.

I'm loving this! Uploaded 7 MB of photos for work in a matter of SECONDS instead of minutes. Definitely makes paying that Knology bill less painful when I know I'm getting a lot more for the money.

Congrats on the job! I'm sure you'll find time to take advantage of the new speeds.

Just got an email saying I should get speeds up to 25Mbps. Cant wait to get home and check. I didn't use the internet much this weekend. I'm over behind Ezell's too.

Still using the stock modem Knology provides and I'm wondering... I get this

This result is right in line with Knology's speed test results. Just what could I realistically gain by buying a DOCSIS 3 modem? I'm happy with this speed (for now) and need to justify the $83 it would cost for a new SB 6120 from Newegg.
