I would like to thank Digibits for the previous poll and FAQ on Backup & Imaging Programs. Thank you, Digibits!!!
I vote for Express Assist and Acronis True Image (9.0.3.854). That were the progs I was using on my own XP machine. (On the PC which I'm temporarily using, I use Express Assist.) |

Switched from ShadowProtect to Macrium Reflect. ShadowProtect was getting too picky when trying to install an image to a different HDD, plus their activation process was a PITA. (Not to mention Macrium costs about half as much) Not one problem with Macrium...Stellar product. |

I'm using Acronis True Image for Windows boxes, and the unix "tar" command for linux.
I also made a Dell recovery disk, which is supposedly a backup, on my newest system (they did not provide a reinstall disk, and this was the alternative). |

For just simple disc imaging/back-up, Macrium Reflect free edition is very easy to use. |

Voted "other." I use "Drive Manager" which came with a Seagate external drive for automated daily backups.
We also use Dell DataSafe subscription service for off-site automated backups. |

Windows Home Server for nightly backups and Acronis TI right before installing new software/drivers.
In my experience it's faster to restore from TI than from WHS. |

I have been using True image for ever. But, I'm disappointed with its bloatness as the years have gone by. I just tried out Macrium reflect and was very impressed. I felt like it was going back to basics which is what I like in any software. Much like defraggers, I will most likely never pay for imaging software again. Macrium reflect free version is very easy to use, and does exactly what I want. As long as I can do full image creations and restores in a timely fashion, as well as mount and explore my image files.......I'm happy. I don't need any other features. |

Started using Acronis beginning w/version 1.0. Finally dumped it about 6 months ago when I discovered Macrium Reflect PRO. Very user friendly and FAST on my win7/64. VERY satisfied customer. |
