XPAMD posted : Cloning the MAC address was one option, connecting the router, then power cycling the modem would have worked too.

The cable modem locks to the first device that requests an IP, that info clears upon a power cycle(of the cable modem).

Wireless Help

anon posted : All right I got Earthlink Cable internet with TimeWarner being the one who installed it. okay so they gave me a basic Cisco cable modem and it does not have wireless. Didn't get it with them because I would rather buy one.

Anyways, I have an old netgear wgt624 router. So far it won't work with the cable internet. So my question is Do I have to buy a seperate router to hook up, or a different modem with router? Any suggestions?
