3347w-tec CVD

Hi-

I have an old wireless router from netopia: 3347WG

the specific serial on the bottom of the router is 3347W-TEC CVD.

it was a wireless router used for Covad DSL many years ago.

I then used it for a PPPoA connection with Qwest.

now I'm trying to use it with a PPPoE LLC connection with Verizon.

My problem is that the DSL is not connecting. the router keeps saying that the user ID and password is incorrect.

however, I know the ID and PSSWD is correct because when I try to connect with the Verizon provided ADSL2+ Modem Bridge (Westell 6110G) or my Netgear DG814, it connects fine. (if you're wondering, why I'm bothering with the netopia, it's because of the wireless capabilities).

Does anyone have any ideas? Or did the DSL portion of the unit simply break as I was transporting it across states?

FYI: I can access the web-based GUI (which doesn't look like the one shown on the motorola website) and I can telnet into it as well, but it doesn't look like the motorola website page with the "easy Setup" option but looks like the terminal shell of this forum post: »Re: [netopia] 3347-02-10ENT Auto Connect with PPPoE

I believe I'm also at the latest firmware of 7.5.0 r1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure ATM is set correctly? Verizon uses VPI/VCI 0/35.

If you cannot get it to work you can always use it as an Access Point. Disable DHCP and connect one of the LAN ports to your LAN.

The modem may be configured to use chap only or pap only
You should be able to configure it to use both or the one your isp requires

Thank you for the suggestions.

I am using VPI/VCI 0/35

and did try setting it to chap only and then pap only

but it still doesn't work.

Any other ideas?

Let the modem attempt to connect then post the contents of the modems log
