Avast thinks dslr is trojan/malware ridden....

But then, they think they are too. Something's very wrong in Avast world today. Can't even get to their forums. Not with IE anyway. I had to shut down Avast just to get here:

Re: Avast thinks dslr is trojan ridden....

DSLR's not the only one. Based on the log on my dad's machine, it's also going nuts on 24hourfitness.com, mapquest, and yahoo mail.

Avast on my machine is one version behind dad's on definitions, 110411-1 seems to be the problem.

Shoot. I was hoping and waiting for some decent reports. I presume that you are using a new version? Free or Paid for?

It's not the only site. It's all over twitter and facebook. A bad update has sparked all sorts of issues. Disable the web shield if you want until they get a fix out.

Avast has been reporting their own site as a trojan including my router login screen, Yahoo, and many other web sites I had visit in the past hour as trojans.

Shoot! I am in the process of D/L the free version (latest). I have used MSE since AVAST caused problems on my system and I hoped I had waited long enough for it to be OK to use again. When, oh when, are they going to get it right and return to the reliable program they were before?

Confirmed the Forum site is down.

All of the other Avast sites are slow.
My last definition update came back as being unavailable.

Sometimes I wonder if these AVs do more damage than the viruses they are defending against with these botched updates that seem to happen fairly often.

I too have the problem, just posted in another forum. lol Just wanted to add to this so Avast knows probably millions of us are affected, and they need to fix it quick or lose customers. here are my stats.

Avast
04/11/11 - Release date @10:58:58 AM
This is what I get when trying to update -
error 403 while trying 74.55.88.194:80//iavs5x/servers.def -

Hope they fix it soon, can't surf anywhere, at least Fisher Price baby games works for my 2 year old!

Yup, updating definitions to 110411-2 seems to fix the problem. At least it did for me. Facebook was the only site that I was having a problem with.
