Re: what areas do not yet have D3?

Yep, D3 is still on. Four channels and 36 Mbps as of now.

Comcast Steve just IM'd me and said they are currently working on upgrading our CMTS to D3, which still seems odd as you obviously have it, but I don't, so does the Ukiah CMTS have it or not? I'm confused. I thought if the CMTS had it, everybody would get it at the same time, but apparently that isn't the case.

could be multiple CMTS's at the head end? maybe one or more is upgraded and the line you just happen to be on isn't yet

I think you're right, I was assuming there was just one CMTS, as everything in Mendocino County goes to Ukiah before heading off to main net. Comcast Steve says there are multiple CMTS's in Ukiah, I learned a new thing today, hey hey

Comcast Steve says the D3 work will be completed here by the end of September (3rd Quarter), so that's encouraging. As of today though, we're still on D2 out here in Redwood Valley.

Right now it sure doesn't feel like D3 here. I'm topping out at about 16 Mbps from the Comcast test server in San Jose, and my PS3 is very sluggish online.

I called in on Monday to see if the upgraded speeds were here yet (thought maybe business users would get it early ), but they said they weren't, with no ETA on when they would be.

That stinks, they must be mucking around with things during the upgrade. I sure hope they stick to the 3rd Q deadline! What's weird is if you put in my address and zip here, they show Blast as being 20/4 here, which of course isn't true.

Edit-Here's a speed test I just did to SF-

100 miles to SF, NOT! lol My house is exactly 120 miles north of the SF City Limits.

Probably not until they migrate all subs off the old CMTS' to the new D3.0 CMTS will you see any speed increases. And that could be awhile.

That makes sense. If I were doing the upgrade, I definitely wouldn't want to deal with double/triple/quadrupling of speeds to subscribers while doing a massive upgrade at the same time .

Upgraded speeds are/would be nice, but I'm more interested in a consistent connection regardless of what time of the day it is. It seems like we're slowly getting there in that regard.

My roommate said that he's getting fewer interruptions/quality fluctuations when using Netflix on the Xbox 360 than before the upgrade, although it has stopped completely a couple of times (corresponding to occasional bouts of extreme sluggishness).

Yeah, I know, I am just giving them a hard time They never get the distances right on a lot of things anyway, especially if they measure as the crow flies, all roads, railroads, etc. up here curve and turn like crazy, there isn't a straight road in NW CA that I know of lol Straight lines? Yeah, maybe in the midwest

I HOPE they do it in the time they are promising, 3rd Quarter, which closes at the end of September.

Well, something has definitely happened out here, and it's GOOD, woot lol I was just checking my router and it said I had 4 Mbps on the uplink, so I did a speed test for the heck of it and, well-

WOW, check that upload! According to my modem though, we are still on D2, any ideas?

What I'm wondering though, is if we are still on D2 (which we are, and of course no bonded channels), how am I getting that upload?

I ran another test and while uploads are still above where they were (around 2, we've never had poweboost on the upload here), they have dropped some since the last test, could they be doing testing on the equipment during the work to upgrade us to D3?

Edit-Now my router shows 3700 on the uplink bandwidth, it was showing 4000 earlier this evening, they must be tinkering with things.

Well, it looks like Comcast wants to mock us, AGAIN-

"Enjoy our latest Xfinity upgrade on 07/01 with up to 25%
faster download speeds on Blast! Xfinity Internet Service!
To receive the faster speed shut down your computer, unplug
the modem from the outlet, plug modom back in, wait 30
seconds, turn the computer back on and enjoy!"

That is on our new bill, and it was on the bill for last month, funny Comcast, NOT Third Quarter for D3 for us, which gives them until the end of September, they did this to us with Blast! as well, telling us we could get it months before we actually were able to.

Edit-I made an error, with the Blast snafu they sent us a letter telling us we could get it, with the D3 snafu we are just getting a notice on our bill lol

I've noticed the opposite with my upload speeds since D3 hit. I used to be able to do 9 Mbps before PB ran out, now it's a little below 7.

See, and that makes no sense to me, we are 8 miles apart and on the same headend in Ukiah. If you can get those kind of uploads, I should be able to too, Comcast is just screwed up I think lol The best I could do prior to a few days ago was 2 Mbps up (no Powerboost on the upload), now I am averaging 3.5-4 Mbps up, which tells me there is now Powerboost on the upload for us. The bill message really irks me, July 1st for D3, HAHAHAHA, NOT! Comcast Steve says 3rd Quarter for Mendocino County, so if it's not here by the end of September I am gonna go ballistic on them lol

Edit-I really can't believe how they're doing the D3 upgrade, Ukiah (or at least parts of it) gets some D3, but we're left waiting in Redwood Valley, nevermind that 6000 live out here, and many work and shop in Ukiah, in other words don't tick us off Comcast, we will come and get you, mwahahahahah
