How to configure Wireless settings in router (Tomato FW)?

I've a Linksys E2000 with Tomato firmware and what should I select for each of the followings? (pix attached)

E2000 has the "select" dual band, hence can only do either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.

Thanks.

Yep, at least we don't have to brute force through the security.

Most importantly you should set the "security" tab to WPA ( TKIP or AES doesn't really matter )

Make sure you choose a password with at least 9 characters.

At least give the hackers a little challenge...

Use 63 random printable ASCII characters

9 Characters is more than strong enough. And easy to program into printers, game consoles ect.

Also, changing the SSID wireless broadcast name to something personalized is important as well.

Why would you not want to make it as strong as possible?
You only have to enter the very long key in your devices once, don't be lazy.

Moreover, in most cases you can use copy/paste for this. So you won't have to actually type it in.

To add...

With Windows the OP can use Windows Connect Now [WCN] to save off the wireless profile on a flash drive for later use. Once its on the flash drive they can simply plug it into another Windows client and the profile is automatically installed and configured.

If the client can not use WCN, ie. like a MAC or Linux client for example, the wireless key is in plain text in the \Smrtntky\Wsetting.txt file on the flash drive. Simply copy-n-paste to the client.

I also echo the use of a long random ASCII key. Personally I use a 63-character random ASCII key and WPA2-PSK [AES] (aka WPA-Personal) to protect my home private and guest wireless networks.

I'm guilty as charged, I'm lazy to set the key into a long set of letters and numbers. I use WEP and if you're a neighbor, you have instant access as you can easily guess it. LOL.
