Wireless networks with D3

Just wanted to offer a little advice to those who have DOCSIS 3.0 available to them.

If you are expecting to have speeds consistently over 20mbps (if you subscribe to speeds at that or higher) then you are going to need to invest in a Wireless N router. You will also need to have a wireless N adapter on your computer. Wireless G transfers at 54mbps....raw data. Actual throughput is about 22mbps right beside the router, and gets slower as you get further away and lose signal. This also depends on the router and the computer. I've seen some computers that cannot get anything over 15mbps connected with G while another computer connected to the same router pulls around 20mbps.

Also, you will need to set the security to WPA2 personal with AES as the type. Anything below WPA2 will throttle the router back to G. Another tweak that seems to help with speed is changing (if possible) the channel width to 20mhz/40mhz auto.
