 | t1 Line Question I was thinking getting a t1 installed at the house, I found a place for 199$ a month 1 year contract, My question is if I decide to go with this how can I make money off of it to pay the bill or decrease the bill? We ill in a spot where dsl/cable is not available so most people are stuck paying a bunch of money for satellite which with my experience is a complete rip off with there Caps, and high ping.
So if I have A t1 line installed how would I go about telling my neighbors that they can run a line from my house and pay a cheaper fee then satellite and what would be needed to do that?
Thanks in advance |

| Does the $200 a month price includes the ISP account or just the T1 line?
T1 is symmetric 1500/1500 bps. Assuming the ISP does not prohibit sharing you could do either wired connections to your neighbors or Wireless.
Several things to keep in mind.
1) T1 is only 1.5 Mbps, Depending on what you and your neighbors expect may not be fast enough.
2) Depending on how many people share the connection may need a way to bandwidth shape speed so one customer does not monopolize the connection.
3) You cannot use an ordinary residential broadband router to share the connection as all customers will be on the same LAN segment. That poses a security risk to each.
4) If your ISP provides multiple IP address each customer will be able to get a public address. More likely they will only provide a single address which means you will need to use NAT to share the account. That prevents your customers from running servers.
5) The account is in your name so if any customers are bit torrenting the copyright violation notice will come to you.
6) If you run wired connection between houses get will need access to right-of-way unless they abutt your property. Distance and lightning is an issue so fiber is the best way to connect unless you can use wireless.
7) Check with your insurance agent as to any effect on your home owners policy.
Bottom line is it is possible to do what you want but the difficulty hinges on how many customers, what they expect, and how far away they are.
Good Luck
