Re: westell 7105 4 port wireless router via westell 6100

There is a way to use the wireless feature of the 7105 without making changes to the 6100

Is the 6100 connected to the internet now

Do you have a second computer you can use to reconfigure the 7105 while you use another computer to post here

Ok, I need more info on the 6100 modem
Do remember if you had to configure the 6100 before using it

Does the 6100 have a internet light

Do you know how to run the ipconfig /all command on the computer

Do you have two computers

Here's a link to a page that shows how to find out the computers ip address
Finding the computer's ip address
I need you to find out what the ip address is on the computer that's connected to the 6100 and post all that info

ip address for the computer connected to the 6100 is

ip: 192.168.200.20

Ok, that's good you should get pencil and paper

Using the computer that's connected to the 6100
Write down and post the
ip address
subnet mask
default gateway
dhcp server
You will need this info later on

You need to make some changes to the 7501 configuration
The ip address must be changed and the dhcp server must be disabled

Compare this picture to your 7501

Does your 7501 have the E1, E2, E3 and E4 ethernet ports
Are there any other ports

Before changing anything have a look at the page where the changes will be made, if you have questions ask

Ok using the computer that's connected to the 7501

Click the advanced icon...............Click yes at the do you want to proceed prompt

On the advanced page click the Private LAN link

On the Private LAN page
Remove the check mark next to Private LAN DHCP Server Enable
The page will refresh/reload

Change the Modem IP Address to 192.168.200.200
Click the apply button wait one minute then turn the 7500 off

Connect the 7500 E2 port the 6100 lan port turn the 7500 on
Connect a computer to the 7500 E3 port

Check that you can access the internet
