Re: westell 7105 4 port wireless router via westell 6100

the ip on the 7501 is 192.168.200.1. the whole issue is getting the 7501 to connect to the internet as in browsing the web.

Ok I think I can help you do this
Does the 6100 have internet access now and can you leave a computer connected to it so we can talk

Do you have a second computer you can use to connect to just the 7501 to make some changes to it

I want you to use the 6100 to access the internet and talk with me

The computer that's running off a neighbor's bootlegged signal is the computer I want you to use to configure the 7501

Can you do this

ok i have moved the 7501 to the other room have hooked it up to that computer and have brought up the configuration page in the web browser. however the part that i don't see how this will work is that it is no longer connected to the 6100 dsl modem..

I understand your concerns but bear with me..........

Here's what I want you to do with the 7501

Click the My Network icon >>> click the Network Connections link >>> click the Lan link
Change the Modem IP Address to 192.168.1.1
Change the DHCP Start Address to 192.168.1.15
Change the DHCP End Address to 192.168.1.47
Click the apply button
Wait one minute
Turn off the 7501 wait 30 seconds turn on the 7501
When the 7501 is finished booting up type the 7501 ip address into the browser address bar

After the 7501 boots up check all the ip info I had you change and let me know the 7501 accepted the changes
There's still more to do

The 7501 should be connected to the 6100 and any computer that's connected to the 7501 can access the internet?

There's one other thing I need to check out with your setup

If you type the ip address of the 6100 modem in the address bar of the web browser do you get a 6100 login page or do you get a 6100 configuration page
