I can see this being valuable in select circumstances..For instance, you have a family of 4 and the cost of going to the theaters would be about $10 per person + snacks or a group of friends who'd rather stay in and watch it all pitch in rather than going to the theater. I don't really know what to make of this...  |

Depends. If you have a nice home theater, I could see this as an alternative. If you don't, it's a rather high-priced movie ticket.
..not to mention I wonder if this is in HD (not over-compressed) with full 7.1 surround and 3D on certain movies. I kinda doubt it, though. |

DirecTV super-compresses their HD feed. Their $5 VOD HD rentals aren't even worth it from how crappy it looks with any minimal moving scene. |

the push / download VOD is 1080P much better then comcast VOD. |

It can be 2160p, but if they compress the crap out of it and then uncompress it, it will still be 2160p of crap. |

You should see U-verse -- that is super-compression. AT&T makes DirecTV look like Bluray. |
