We do have a new DVR in the works. It's a whole home solution DVR as well. We're currently still testing it, and don't have a release date for them yet. They're a big upgrade from the SA 8300's though.

How can I get in on the external beta testing? I can't wait to give up my cable box! The thing is useless and old technology!

I can't speak about external beta testing at this time. If and when it does occur, I will see about how we are going to do it, and I will let you know if we are looking for candidates.

I really hope the GUI is faster. My current DVR is painful to navigate.

DVRs came out about 5 years ago, and it seems they have made zero improvements over that period.

Check out the new DVR Canadian cable company Shaw just launched: »www.shaw.ca/Gateway/

Considering the fact that we know WOW's new DVR will also be from Arris, this looks like a likely candidate. If this happens to be the new DVR, that's a very good thing for WOW TV customers.

wower

@cox.net

they should make it buy the box or rent to own like shaw.

why you won't be able to use it with anyone else if you change providers?

That's not necessarily true with the IP network boxes.

You mean AllVid? Who knows when we'll actually see that.

Wow, the Shaw box looks pretty awesome. If WOW introduced something similar to that, it might be enough to make me seriously consider switching from my two Tivo Premieres - and I have lifetime on those boxes so I've got a good bit invested in them!

It's not me kiddo.

The hdmi port on the cable box is messed up and yes I've used different cables.

New cable box is the only way to replace that issue.
