True, profitability does get Companies, Institutions, Corporations to take notice.
Here we are 11 years from 2k. Yet we are having more leaks, more Hacks, and more privacy violations. WHY? Is it the Dumbing down of College IT Computer graduates, the old guard IT Computer graduates getting lax in their old age, the result of an Economy that has put IT guys out of work and they are collectively putting their knowledge to nefarious usage, or is it part of something else something crafted by Politicians in need of foot soldiers and Headlines to bring the masses to take away more freedoms in a weak effort to curtail the breaches.
Reviewing the article yes it could be an honest mistake, but how long has that system to purchase tickets existed how many other Reps have gone through that system been fired and let go, 10 years 14 years....and now is the first time that a Rep has made this mistake. (Yeah I believe that, if anyone else believes it I have some property I would love to sell you.

)
It was mentioned in the comments section of the article that perhaps this was a PR stunt, so to speak. The information was sold to advertisers, and then PR advised it was a leak and a mistake. Thereby skirting the issues of violating any privacy policies. Interesting....could that theory now explain why we have so much of this going on. $$$$ motivated sell user data, and fabricate a Hack, Leak, or Mistake to the masses. Need a scapegoat...go get the Bum at the street corner, hire him for week, then parade him out and fire him for making the mistake.
So as the consumer goes there is no program, no steps that anyone can take once the information is out. It is out. So the only way to prevent this is to Lie about everything, use a PO Box if possible, and a disposable Credit Card. Is that really what you other Tin Foil hats do? What steps do you take to prevent your information from going public?
