| Autoquote and long file name attachements 1-It would be useful if , when using autoquote, only the text written by the previous poster were included. Right now, the ful text is included, included quotes the previous poster included. and it is a real pain to remove. (at least pot some spaces between the bquote tags so it is easier to position cursor to do the surgical cut of the redundant text.
2-When attaching files, there appears to be a file name size limit. If a file name exceeds it DSLR truncates it without warning. Often, I post .pdfs I receive from telcos and the filenames can be long. This means that readers will get a "blob of data" instead of a .pdf document.
It woud be nice if DSLR were to suport long filename, or at least warn if a file name is to be truncated (or perhaps truncate the name portion sufficiently to add the original extension back to maintain proper file type handling.) |

| The lack of response indicates that other users have not found the suggestion interesting enough to comment on. They haven't even found it interesting enough to object to the proposal.
While I am here, I'll comment. It seems to me that auto-quote works well enough. It is up to the author of a quote to edit out the superfluous parts. We don't need system software to do that.
As for the attachment - can't you just rename the file to a shorter name on your computer before you upload it? Perhaps I don't understand the problem you are trying to solve.
Note that I am just a forum user, like you. I am not any part of "DSLR management". And, personally, I *object* -- AT&T Uverse; Zyxel NBG334W router (behind the 2wire gateway); openSuSE 11.4; firefox 4.0 |

| I get files emailed by telcos. Names vary in length. I have no idea when I upload one if the file name is to be too long or not. If it is too long, i get no warning until users complain that they can't open the file because there is no extension to it.
With regards to quoting, the problem with removing an embeded quote (quote within a quote) and that it is far too easy to mismatch the bquote tags.
If you respond to message X, you should only have message X's original text in the quote, not the contents of message Y to which X was responding. (Unless you live in a Microsoft world where the concept of trimming quotes doesn't exist because Microsoft hides quotes at bottom of messages. |
