[ME] Portland Maine Radio station that has more chatI know most people like less chat, but I have been listening to Positive 89 via Tune In Radio on my Droid.
WGAN doesnt allow streaming
So what other radio station is there that I might tune into that would give more of the local stuff like weather, traffic, events. ETC.
Genres I like are Christian, Country and 70s oldies.
Reason is, I Loved the 8 years in Maine I had at NAS Brunswick (Sad its closed) and kinda like to see whats going on still.
BTW I was a weekend DJ on WAYU 93.1 in Lewiston for a year till a new station manager took over and didn't like a Military guy on there. |

Thanks, Tune In has the same list. I was just looking for locals that might tell me in the genre I like which would have more chat on local stuff. |

I iz WickedSuperMod - See me ROAR..... I have many forums. Take a look at my profile page. They figured I could handle DKat and vax and cape. I also live in Northern California - San Francisco East Bay to be exact - Northern California is part of the Extended Pacifc Northwest. In fact I have lived here longer than I lived in Putnam, CT. I left there at 18 when I joined the Marines. |

I know. The last time I was there was a year ago January when my dad passed. Don't think I'll be back there again. The house finally sold last month so all ties are gone from Putnam. |

Thats pretty good, its better than Ive found so far. Ive listened to quite a few and most have very little talk. The sports channels and the news/talk radios have all appeared to have gone to National feeds which I can get here. Cest la Vie, Was hoping to find a mainer that listens in and let me know what ones have local talk. Guess not . |

Or am I not understanding what you are asking? Basically Sash I kinda miss Maine with all the hubub that goes around here in the Seattle area. I have a program on my Droid called Tune-in that allows me to listen to any streaming radio station from anywhere in the world (they have 1000s all over the world in any language). So, I was trying to find a station in Maine, a state I spent almost 8 years in, that did more local talk and weather than what I can find so far listening. Most are continuous music now and any talk I found was all National Feeds. I thought maybe a local could get me into a local station that had a bit more talking about local things, traffic (well whats there, used to be a traffic jam in Brunswick was 6 cars at the light) and weather. Just to get the feeling I was back there again. WBLM (the blimp) is one I used to listen to but its become a really crappy station. The two Country and 1 Christian I found were just music all the time (well during when I can listen). So that's it in a nutshell hehehe. |

I am in Maine but you haven't heard much from me because I don't think I am able to help. I don't listen to the radio much any more. Most of the music I listen too is from iPod/iPhone or Sirius satellite. All the commercials on radio now, make me nuts. Play two songs, a little DJ chatter, and 4 minutes of commercials. Repeat. TV is just as annoying and I download from iTunes TV any shows I want to see, MINUS the adverting. That all said. Most of the radio stations around here are now nationally fed anyway. There are exceptions, that some stations will do a "morning jam" locally, or special live broadcasts. Two stations that come to mind is 98.9 WCLZ » www.989wclz.com/ and 104.3 WABK (No web site but is in the works? » www.wabkfm.com/) are the two stations I do listen to IF I happen to have a radio on. Both are pretty good (especially 98.9) with local shenanigans. You said you already found a couple of local AM stations but I cant speak for AM at all. Other then that, I can't help much. Or perhaps I too, am completely missing what you are after. |

WCLZ is a rather unique genre that takes a little getting used to. I believe you would like WABK if you find it streaming someplace. It is an "Oldies" station. |

Tried it, yes a little tough on this old guy. WABK doesn't stream anywhere, but Oldies would be nice. Ive been listening more to 89.3 WMSJ and WHOM. Also country 99.9 the Wolf. But a lot sure have 2 or 3 hour music. If you ever get the chance listen to KIRO FM 93.7 from 9 to Noon your time. Its Newstalk and that is more what I was looking for. Nope, not Yerba Buena. Closer to Oakland. TI has been closed for years so as far as I know no military there now. I was discharged May 1971 after 3 years. If you look in the EPN photo album - you will see me coming out of the gas chamber on TI. |
