Multiple auto quotes

Not sure if this has been discussed, but is it possible to create a button that auto quotes more than one post? Many times a question asked in a thread will have a few replies. Rather than having the OP quote each one as a separate reply (to answer the question from the replies) or having to create a reply and then go back and past the extra quotes as an edit, it would be easier to have the multiple quotes available on one reply. Member simply clicks a button beneath the posts they want to auto quote, then hits reply and the text entry box has the quotes pasted in. Member redacts the extraneous text and places comments below the specific reply.
Thread is kept more organized and easier to follow.
Thanks!

Years ago I got tired of asking for some decent tools for making posts on DSLR, so I just wrote my own macros. I don't think there is any interest in changing the forums at all. One reason may be that ANY change (except adding a new forum) is met with pages of whining.

I just do it manually. I type my reply to one quote, copy everything, hit the back button, reply to another post, hit Autoquote, paste what I copied above that and leave a few empty lines in between, then type my reply to the 2nd post.

Yeah, I know, but that's a PITA, especially if you're using a tablet. That's the workaround but if you're quoting three separate replies (not unreasonable) this adds a lot of wasted time and energy. A button would eliminate the waste...and is usually found at many/most forums.

"most forums" use vBulletin and similar. This site is custom-built from scratch. Being this way certainly has benefits .... and tradeoffs.

This feature request has been made many, many times over the years too.

There is a somewhat easy way. When you reply, there is the frame above the post box with the whole thread in it. You can find a post you want to quote in there, click 'qreply', then 'quote', then copy and paste it into your main post window. Then you don't have to leave the page or use multiple tabs to get more than one quote.
