[Modem] Using DSL when traveling

I'm thinking of trying out DSL with earthlink.

Would I be able to take my modem with me while traveling and use in areas that have earthlink number availability?

Thanks

DSL is a fixed location service using your existing telephone line. It doesn't work on dial up and is not mobile.

You would need a Wi/Fi provider (and their Wi/Fi Modem) if you need to have broadband while you travel.

Thanks for replying to my question.

I don't like using wifi connections, so maybe I will try their dial up service. I'm told that it can be utilized from other computers as long as there are connection phone numbers.

Based on customer experience with Earthlink, do you know if the service is satisfactory?

Thanks again

You might be better off with a cellphone data plan.

I believe Earthlink provides 20 hours per month of free dial-up with the DSL plan so while you can't take your DSL out on the road, you could at least connect at about 50 kb/s via dial-up to check email.

That is correct!
