Re: Curious about the fiber in Martinsville.. Actually live in Franklin County but have a Martinsville address. But yes, the fiber is through a stimulus grant for connecting all the outlying schools in the county. Just fortunate to live on the 'path' to the local school. I don't think fiber to the curb for individuals is in the immediate plans. I have heard that CenturyLink (phone company) will be leasing part of the newly available optic bandwidth which hopefully means DSL (even if it is outdated) will be available soon after the fiber is up and running. Maybe eventually fiber to the curb will open up too (hoping on this one!). The canopy system suffers the same bandwidth issues during 'heavy' usage hours too! |
