MC760 w/windows7

I have 2 netbooks the one with XP connects with no problem with the usb mc760. The windows 7 netbook will not connect, intermittent response shows authenticating, then windows opens stating 'remote computer failed to respond'. I have reinstalled and downloaded the Liteauto file from Novatel, still no luck.

It works fine with two W7 Home Premium computers I have, one of which is a netbook also.

In looking at the log of the XP and Win7 ultimate the only difference is that the win7 machine disconnects within .2 second of establishing connection.

My first thing to try whenever DUN fails to connect is:

Goto your networking adapters area (control panel, view by large icons, network and sharing center, change adapter settings) and delete any DUN entries that appear there for the VM connection.

Relaunch the dialer and hit connect.

If it fails then try:

1. uninstall novatel dialer software

2. goto networking adapters and remove any DUN entries for the VM connection, reboot pc

3. install VM dialer software

try to connect... if it still gives an error hop back into networking adapters and remove any DUN entries and try connecting again with the VM software.

I recall not being able to connect with a VM branded MC 760 with the novatel software alone, I think the VM dialer adds some additional driver.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. None of the steps worked. I still had the original XP image of my netbook and I did the rescue procedure and put it back to XP, now the VM modem works great.

very odd! have it working on a lot of win7 machines... wonder if the software is corrupt on the 760?

Well good you got it going!
