Who Fixes the DSLAM, Line Problems, Etc?

If you're on Earthlink DSL, who fixes the DSLAM, Line Problems, etc when something goes wrong? How is this done/what are the procedures?

The vendor* does after TRON (Earthlink Tech Support Tier 3) contacts them. Other issues have to be eliminated before a truck roll is deemed to be the next step.

* Earthlink uses multiple vendors and it could be AT&T (Former SBC and Former Bellsouth), Covad, Qwest, or Verizon depending on which vendor is providing the DSL to your location.

...and I'm betting AT&T would give you the cold shoulder if you're in their territory?

Sorry for the double post, but I have to ask...

Has anyone ever dealt with AT&T on needing to have the DSLAM or line repaired in a situation like this? How do they react? Can you comment, please?

If you mean that you are calling or wanting to call AT&T then no AT&T will not help non-customers as you are a customer of Earthlink, not AT&T. You call Earthlink and they then call AT&T if the line or DSLAM show to be the actual fault.

I am more concerned with what prevents AT&T from going:

'Oh, look... an Earthlink customer... Just call Earthlink back and tell them we didn't find anything wrong and we'll go get lunch.'

The exact same proposed action can happen to AT&T direct customers also, so there is nothing either customer (a AT&T subscriber or an Earthlink subscriber) can do if the tech decides to not do their job.
