Whats up Failpoint, third time this month. |
 | Indeed. I can't even play Winamp internet radio which uses less than 5kb of bandwidth without it constantly buffering.

15/2Mbps so-called "fast" plan. |
 | reply to exeter I live in Southern NH and i usually get 15 Mbps however once a week i drop to these results:

Not sure if this has anything to do with topic but i want to know why i randomly get these drops. Gets to be a big pain in the @$$ sometimes. |

 | They forgot to pay their bill to Verizon so they throttled them to a t-1 connection from their oc48 out of Mass.
I just ordered Comcast (not that I wanted to).. Business Class service. At least with Business Class there is no GB caps so happy netflix watching. Which is what I was trying to do when they pulled the plug on the OC48 |
 | Not that this applies to this post, but while I am searching for information on what they heck they are doing to fix things, I found this text on their website about FAST service: "FAST provides up to 8 hours of battery backup in the event of a power failure" Then they talk about the free router you get. DUH!!! NO POWER TO THE ROUTER IDIOTS.. So they are selling SCAM... |
 | Wow.. going back to my posts, Fairpoint was down on the 5th of May, the 15th, and now today (25th).
I am guessing they have been paying Verizon just enough to satisfy their taste for the GREEN to unthrottle the connection for another 10 days. |

 | reply to exeter Everything seems to be working A-OK now. I can now finally ping 30m to google.com |
 | reply to exeter I spoke too soon. Failpoint is at it again, not as severe as last night but still 185ms ping is pretty bad. |
 | reply to exeter Quickly degrading...
 | reply to exeter Ditto here in Nashua - this is getting to the point where I may even consider switching to the evil cable company. |
 | reply to exeter Sigh....

 | reply to exeter Well, according to the FairPoint tech support folks the outage is due to a fire in the New York area that is affecting both Verizon and Fairpoint in New England. Supposedly the problem is being worked on, but given that this problem has been recurring over the past few months I have to wonder if that's just a convenient cover story ...
The "master" ticket number for the outage is 201105251296. |
 | There is no fire. I have check this story. I did talk to someone that said that in an effort for Fairpoint to not lose their shirt, they are throttled down at night because they can't afford to support their customer base. I have been investigating the issue and its getting worse. If the fire is in NY, there are plenty of routes to go around including bell-nexia in Canada through VT.
Don't let these goons fool us. I want to form a class action against these guys.. pvt me if your on board! |
 | reply to asdfman WOW SECOND ****ing NIGHT IN A ROW I CANT DO ****!

This is ridiculous I pay for the EXTRA FAST service and this is what i keep getting. Time to call Comcast. I may pay more but at least i'll get internet i can use. I'm having trouble watching youtube with this, god help us all if i turn on Xbox 360 / PS3 / or any of my other devices.
Does anyone know whats going on? Is this going to be temporary or regular, should i bother calling Fairpoint? |
 | Fairpoint FAILed to pay their bill. So they are throttling to save money. Stocks too a dive yesterday afternoon so they are throttling to save on cost. Everyone call up and ask for a credit and hit them right back where it hurts. f u c k ing a s s holes! |
 | reply to exeter I'm not so sure exeter. I hate to say this, but I believe Fairpoint "may" be telling the truth about the fire.
This lagging, when it has occurred, has always happened between 8pm-11pm/12am. This started happened this early afternoon ~2pm when temps in New England were at 90F and fire risks were all at highest level. |
 | There are no reports of fire at any facilities in NY. I have backend resources for other providers. FIOS is not reporting ANY trouble and they are ALTERNET!!!
I am sorry to say this issue has been happening every 10 days because Fairpoint things that by throtting down from their providing every 10 days they will shave a little off the top and save money..
I have reported issues on May 5th after 8pm, May 15th found the issue when I got home at 9:30pm, last night (may 25th) RIGHT at 8pm when I was watching netflix and again tonight right at 8pm.
They may be rolling the throttle a bit depending on the area, but I was not affected till exactly 8pm tonight.
So there is no fire.
I have ordered comcast anyways, getting rid of these goons.. they are going down again.. on the verge of another bankruptcy. I hope this time that VT, ME and NH get smart and get someone else in here to do the job. Its been nothing but a horror dealing with these pricks! |
 | I dare FAIRPOINT to tell us the location of the facility that had the fire? I bet they don't have an answer!!!! |

 | reply to exeter This is ridiculous!!! I have Fairpoint FiOS or whatever you want to call it and my connecting speed took a nose dive yet again. This is the third time in three months. I demand answers or I'm switching back to communist-cast. |
