So can you back this fact up that FairPoint is not paying their bill? Or maybe they just are having a transport issue with their upstream provider.

What problem are you experiencing?

As far as I know FairPoint is no longer using Verizon billing or transport. As erikthebean See Profile posted it is probably a problem affecting your local area.

******** Edit ********
I just check your other thread »[speed/latency] FAST service is SLOW and erikthebean See Profile responded.

I'm on DSL but as far as I can tell have not been affected. Just did a speedtest.net using New York city server and am getting my normal speed.

Fiber outages happen, I'm surprised they are so vulnerable to single point of failure.

That is why they call it a fiber ring. So there is no single point of failure. We route through Boston, which has over 90 redundant points.

This is a problem with Fairpoint trying to shave a little and in a desperate move they are requesting their provider to cut back their bandwidth from 8pm to midnight eastern which is the most used time of the day (netflix ect).

Fairpoint is going to crash again and this time hard.

I already ordered comcast as my backup to avoid the refugee installation delays.

Well that explains alot. I've been calling at least once a week complaining about slow speeds from 8pm to midnight. I have the slowdowns every night I go to use it. Never get an answer from them other than we'll add it to your ticket..

Figures they finally get me to bump up my speed and they happily take my money but drop the speed below what I had before every night.

Unfortunately they are still better than the lousy cable system we have in town.
