That is why they call it a fiber ring. So there is no single point of failure. We route through Boston, which has over 90 redundant points.
This is a problem with Fairpoint trying to shave a little and in a desperate move they are requesting their provider to cut back their bandwidth from 8pm to midnight eastern which is the most used time of the day (netflix ect).
Fairpoint is going to crash again and this time hard.
I already ordered comcast as my backup to avoid the refugee installation delays.
Well that explains alot. I've been calling at least once a week complaining about slow speeds from 8pm to midnight. I have the slowdowns every night I go to use it. Never get an answer from them other than we'll add it to your ticket..
Figures they finally get me to bump up my speed and they happily take my money but drop the speed below what I had before every night.
Unfortunately they are still better than the lousy cable system we have in town.
