 | Qwest doesn't value existing customers Recently I saw an ad for up to 7mbps svc locked @ $14.95/mo for five years below is the conversation I had with Qwest:
Thank you for contacting Qwest. My name is Victoria R. (20814). How may I help you today?
Victoria R. (20814): Hello Jonathan!
Jonathan: Hi, I just saw a commercial for Qwest Hi Speed internet up to 7 Mbps for 14.95/mo with no commiment, How do I get on that pricing scheme ?
Victoria R. (20814): I will be happy to assist you with that information today.
Victoria R. (20814): Do you currently have Qwest services?
Jonathan: yes, also, the commercial stated the price was locked for 5 years
Victoria R. (20814): Thank you for being a valued customer. The rates that you are seeing here online are for new customers starting new services. The 5 year price lock will not be available for the existing customers.
Jonathan: So, you'd rather I switch to Comcast which offers 105mbps service when u have no plans to upgrade ?
Victoria R. (20814): I do understand your concerns, however since you currently have the fastest speed that is available in your area at this time, you are able to contact the loyalty department at 1.866.968.9888 and choose transfer code 130.
Jonathan: No worries, I will post everywhere online how AWFUL Qwest is and doesn't value their customers. Have a nice evening
Victoria R. (20814): I will be right with you.
Victoria R. (20814): I apologize for the inconvenience.
Victoria R. (20814): Is there anything else I may assist you with today?
Jonathan: U HAVEN'T ASSISTED ME, HAVE A PLEASANT EVENING.
Victoria R. (20814): Same to you as well.
Victoria R. (20814): Thank you for choosing Qwest,have a great day! |

The loyalty group is the only department in sales that can give existing customers the new customer deals. Not only that, they gave you a way to get around the normal VRU way of getting to that group, which is calling the main number and choosing the option for disconnecting service. It sounds like they were actually pretty helpful and you acted like a jerk. |

| reply to jrmorfin Lol your the reason why I can't stand to work for customer service. You were a jerk from the start since you didn't get your way. As the other poster said talk to the loyalty department to get a better deal. No reason to get mad cus you can't get a deal that is for new members. |

Well, on the other hand, you're probably the reason why some can't stand to call into customer service! By the way, it's you're not your.
Unfortunately, this is not specific to Qwest. It's not uncommon for new customers to get much better deals than long-term customers. |

Unfortunately, this is not specific to Qwest. It's not uncommon for new customers to get much better deals than long-term customers. As I mentioned in my reply to the OP, the group whose number they were referred to is able to give existing customers the deals that are normally reserved for new customers. |

 | reply to jrmorfin I would have to disagree. I too was directed to the loyalty line and I called it. For two consectuive 6-month periods they've renewed my 40Mbps internet service at the introductory offer of $25. And I will call them again in Sep when this 6-month promotional period expires to request the introductory offer again. Very little effort, I would say, for a $936/year savings! |

 | this is very very uplifting to hear |
