| Firewall Poll 2011 Multiple Choice Poll
Which firewall program do you use? |
|
Please do participate in this poll as your votes and comments will be referred to often throughout the year to provide assistance to others in their choice of Firewall.
Credit also goes to Owlbet and TransitMan for setting the foundation for this poll 2 years ago.
Firewalls that had zero votes last year have been removed from the poll this year. If you are using any of them or any other unlisted firewall, please specify which one after voting "others" and they may be added next year.
Anti Spyware poll will be coming soon next. -- You can catch the Devil, but you can't hold him long. |

| FYI, "Norton PF / Norton Internet Security" should include Norton 360 too. NPF is very old. I think the last version was 2005 IIRC. I don't know anyone who still uses it! Do you?
For my firewall setups, it depends on which PCs I use since I have Mac OS X, Linux/Debian, and Windows (currently 2000 SP4 and XP Pro. SP3). They are all behind a Linksys WRT54GL router (stock firmware -- lazy and it works fine :P) and each computer has its own software firewall (mostly to block outbound network connections I like to watch). Anyways, I did multiple vote options. :P |

For the 'router' selections, I would have had 'NAT router' and 'router with SPI firewall'. I am running Zonealarm on the PCs, with a router running SPI software (DD-WRT). |

Windows Built in Firewall, only because it's there, on both XP & W7.
In days gone by, I had always used Zone Alarm. These were the days when ZA was still lean. I would be hesitant to try it now. (My father ran into troubles with recent versions, I believe it was with the browser plugin?)
I really should look into something more robust. |
