The 'fixes' to .045 :

-------------

Changes to firmware ver. 3.0.3.3-045:
----------------------------------------------------------
- Fixed daylight time for European timezones CET and EET.
- Fixed dnsmasq failure exit on not existing tftp root directory.
- Added IPv6 fixes from upstream kernels.
- Improved stability RTL8367 switch initialization on system startup.
- Improved WebGUI design for PPPoE VPN + MAN connection.

-------------

.045 didn't last too long did it? From what I can tell from the above I don't see anything major? .045 was working fine for me?

Apparently there is alternate firmware for my RT-AC66U. I'm curious, but the darn thing works flawlessly. I'm reluctant to mess around with a good thing.

There is and I am not a fan of it. I tried the 56 version of this and it's nothing at all like the Padvan version which is truly an impressive piece of coding. Down the road things may be different as it matures but right now if faced with stock or Merlin stay where you are.

Hi guys,

Padavan now showing: "The new release of firmware version 3.0.3.3-046 is ready."

Has anyone installed this update? If so, any issues?

Thanks

1 edit

On padavan's firmware for the RT-N56U it has classical linux hybrid NAT by default . My Question is would Full Cone NAT be less restrictive?

I've been having problems with the Media Server on the last two drops and had to go back to .040 drop. I've been having drops of the server and either have to give up or open the Router on my iPad and then restart the server. Works for a short while and then stops. Video mostly.

Has anyone else had problems using the Media Server? Does anyone use/test this feature?

There are similar reports on the Padavan site, but I can't tell is any are 'active', either verified or fixed even?

I've also had the same problem using FTP and clicking on AVI files as well. Restarting the router works for a while in this case too.

Also, what is the correct way to flash the router? What I've been doing is flashing over the old one and then browsing the router to make sure the settings have held. Is this OK?

So whats the deal with this padavan firmware? I went to the site but it really doesn't say much about it. Why would you use this instead of the stock firmware? Just curious.

Go ahead and try .48 and let me know how it goes...

Padavan firmware is completely re-written, cleaned up, optimized and feature enhanced greatly over the stock. Once you go to Padavan you won't go stock again. Plus updates run about once per month and each an improvememt over the previous. Stock updates can tale months and offer little in improvement.

It is on now, we'll see the Media Server service later.

We've been having some problems getting to Chase and Bank of America, more on my wife's 5Ghz wireless system than my direct 1GB wired computer so I was suspecting the router or how I flashed it (didn't get an answer on what is the 'suggested' way to flash). Turns out Chase was having 'problems' as was BofA. Wonder if they are under attack?
