 | Just a heads-up...
There is a report of degradation and Latancy problems (895 and 896) on the Padavan site.
We've been experiencing some slow browser function on both the wired and 5Ghz band. Some I attribute some problems to WEBMAIL.CFL.RR.COM which seems to be having some problems and can be reached sporadically. Even when reached it reports that your Session has timed out, although it is working fine now?
However, the 5Ghz wireless system has some different problems. When I went to check the PING time to router, the command 'ping 192.168.1.1' would either timeout with 100% data loss or said it couldn't find that connection? However we could still access the Internet? When I added '/w 100' to the command it worked fine with 1MS time? Other times it worked with the same 1MS speed without the /W? This Latency 'bug' was responded too stating the prior release was the same (author said going back solved the problem?).
I'm wondering is there is some leftover stuff that interferes when you update, and maybe occasionally resetting to router to the shipped state and entering manually all settings is worthwhile? -- Irv Spalten |

Agree and that is what I basically said,"This Latency 'bug' was responded too stating the prior release was the same (author said going back solved the problem?)."
said by BHNtechXpert:WiFi driver 5GHz in 3.0.3.5-058 and 3.4.3.6-064 absolute identical. Well, while true, there were other parts of the firmware changed that might have had an effect on the 5Ghz driver?
Our 5Ghz devices have seen a slowdown at times. The PING command working differently at times is suggesting to me something is going on, possibly in the router. We may have had this problem before but the report made me try it and discover the strange results.
No big deal, I can live with it and hope it changes. -- Irv Spalten |

Does anyone know or noticed if the Asus RT-N66U or the Asus RT-N56U play nice with Magic Jack or the like VOIP products?

There have been no updates to the RTN56u/65 in quite a while. Perhaps they took a break. Also a new router I plan to test soon...

Also, I certainly am not paying full price for it One of the network engineers in my office was talking to me about it and will be able to get me one for an incredible price. |

telijah join:2013-04-22 Saint Petersburg, FL | I sometimes activate the hotspot option with no security, and all http requests get rerouted to a rick roll. I think I've realistically only gotten like, 5 people with that though. But I get a good chuckle out of it when I check the logs and see I got someone with it. |

Hey Gary, what do you think about the Netgear WNR3500Lv2 running Shibby's Tomato firmware. I've been running this setup since July and haven't seen any issues. Any known problems? |

Honestly I am not a fan of that model primarily due to the native firmware issues over time and also have never been much of a fan of Tomato. The last encounter I had with it wasn't what I would call the best....that said....many improvements may have come down the pipe since then so in all fairness I will say this "I have no current experience to say one way or the other" so guide yourself accordingly. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. | Thanks Gary, This Tomato build string from Shibby seems to be a fairly good one. It seems stable and fast. Can't really ask for more than that. The only times I've been rebooting is either updates or as was the case last week, where I didn't get an IP address from the WAN DHCP. Since that time, like clockwork... lease renewed every 12 hours. |
