[OC] O/C a P4 540/J for a speed increase?

I have an spare P4 system that is custom built. How can I O/C the CPU from 3.2Ghz up enough to get a speed boost and not damage the processor?
I can change the Host Clock setting from 200MHz, DDR voltage and AGP voltage. I have a standard LGA775 heat sync with a fan mounted on top and a 120mm rear fan on my case. The multiplier is locked at 16.
Any ideas? I don't really want to spend any money at this old technology which is all EOL.

Really not worth it IMHO. The standard HSF will not handle the heat.

One time I antecedently O/C the CPU to 5Ghz with the stock cooler by increasing the host frequency up to (I don't remember, it was above 205). I rebooted and saw the CPU line 'Pentium 4 at 5ghz' and I put it back to normal quickly as possible.

Would 3.28Ghz be ok? It's not much but my games to run more smooth vs the standard 3.2Ghz.

3.28 will probably be no problem. Just to be sure of temps install a temp monitoring program like real temp or core temp.

What would the max cpu speed be for my standard HSF?
Would 3.30Ghz be to hot? I better first try 3.28Ghz?

Hard call on max speed with standard HSF. You need temp monitoring software. Google is your friend.

For over clocking what do people use for benchmarking and temp monitoring software?

Try PC Wizard for one. It is free. Everest is another, but they changed its name and it costs money.
