[HELP] VoIP Redundacy

Hi, is it possible to have a set of DID's mirrored across two states, one site as a hot standby and the other as active? I was told this is not possible however I'm a bit skeptical.

NJ
212893XXX to 212893XXXX

MA
212893XXX to 212893XXXX

I'm new to the VoIP genre and also exploring redundancy designs. I always wondered if the large companies do this with their call centers across the globe and nationally why is it not possible?

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

I think this can be done, if you have 2 voice circuits serviced by the same phone provider, you can have them forward call from site A to site B when either of the following occurs
-Site A has all lines busy with calls
-circuit in Site A is not functional

Basically your ISP will have to support this feature.

If you are looking for a specific example, Level 3 offers VOIP service that is capable of doing this from any of their layer3 routed networking products (such as internet "HSIP" or mpls vpn)
Usually dynamic probing and failover is an additional cost.
