Re: COX Fairfax, VA: The worst ISP in the nation?

On COX's website they said that they would be finished with the "upgrading" of thier fiber optic system at the end of 2nd quarter, which is about May.

You may still have hope

If you hope, you get hurt. Just give up. Then you wouldn't get raged anymore.

All I can say, is HOLY SHI*!!!! Not one instance of a ping over 100ms (with the exception of a few time outs). It said on RR's website that they would be doing maintenance this morning and it sure looks like they did.

And just to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I pinged some of my favorite Elite Force servers (which I have never pinged below 100 for the past 3-4 months) and I was rocking at around 70-80.

Man, now if Cox can only keep it this way for the time being, that'll be SAWEET! It's 8:40pm right now so I'm blown away even more.

Wow, something amazing has been happening. Lately, while playing Counter-Strike, I'm getting pings in the TEENS, and once I even had a 9 ping!!! And they were constant too, at random servers....Hmmmmm, I wonder what they did, and I hope it lasts a while!

I'm glad you guys are getting better connections. But I'm still down the crapper. I really do think they keep switching us from node to node. For 2 or 3 days straight, I'll be getting 30-40ms pings on counterstrike servers, day and night. Then the next day, I'll suddenly start pinging +200ms, regardless of the time of day. So, nothing much to say. Just still hoping DSL comes out here soon. I'd much rather have low pings, and not AS much bandwidth (still pretty decent though) than to be stuck with such a low-grade, sub-standard cable ISP.

Plus it usually takes about 5 minutes to connect to a Kazaa server. That starts to get kind of frustrating after a while

Yep, getting better every day

Honestly, even up until 2 or 3 months ago, any time there would be an uninterrupted period of decent service for a few days, I would begin to think that they had finally fixed everything. However, the first thought that goes through my mind now when I see those 10ms gateway pings at 2:45pm is, "I wonder if any of my friends will be home by 4:00". But, usually, I can squeeze in a good hour or 2 of online gaming before my connection begins to make its 30-minute transition to 200ms latency.

Your download speed : 1042239 bps, or 1042 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 127.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 171306 bps, or 171 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

7:15 in the morning and I still can't get close to the 1500 kpbs limit.

This COX is kidding me.
I cannot play CS. It says, "CL..._Packet." So I assume I have a packet loss issue with this COX connection.

I just wanted to play CS although I have over 300 ping time service with COX. But this packet loss thing just prevent me from playing CS at all. Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!
