70s video of AT&T WTC switch install

Don't think i've ever seen an air powered wrap gun before. Starts about the 2 minute mark.

Nice video...

I have an electric WW - heard about air powered ones, but never seen one myself, either...

And for the record, I hate GTD's...

A friend of mine used to work for AT&T in large CO in the 80s and he said there were people in the company who had sole the job of inspecting their wraps. I don't remember the exact number but each one had to wrap someting like 8 1/2 wraps or it would be rejected and they had to do it all over again. I don't remember the exact number but the 1/2 stuck in my mind.

Depends on the style of wrap - a "modified" wrap is 1/2 wrap of insulated wire, and 7 of bare copper... A standard wrap is just 7 of bare, the insulation just touches the pin, but doesn't wrap around it...

According to wiki, this is an example of Bell wire wrapping. I count 6 or so full wraps on most of them.

Its like art.

Original article: »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire_wrap

said by Wikipedia :

A correctly made wire-wrap connection is seven (7) turns of wire with 1.5 turns of insulated wire at the bottom for strain relief.

and then goes on to say "citation needed".
