| Caller ID conflict I have call treatments set to use call hunt to pass calls to my cell phone. When the call hits CC it shows as anonymous but when it gets to my cell there is a number showing. Is there a problem with CC's Caller ID function? How would it be different between the two services? |

| Sounds like CC is playing by the rules.
Let's say the person calling you is pressing *67 to be anonymous.
That does not remove their identity, it just flags a privacy tag.
(Similarly: When you do a simple "delete" on a file on your computer, it is still there, just slightly hidden).
CallCentric is honoring the privacy tag.
If the call is then forwarded to your cellphone, and a CID does appear, either your cellphone carrier is not honoring the privacy tag, OR the privacy tag is getting lost in the multiple handoffs.
--------------------------------
By the way, tollfree numbers do NOT honor the privacy tag. So some people forward their incoming calls to a TF number, and in doing so, they are able to see all the callers whether they tried to be anonymous or not. |

| reply to RogerD Jun 15, 2011 11:44 AM : Customer service Hello,
In general, when you do receive an incoming call, our system will send which ever caller ID we receive from the underlying carrier processing the call. Going over our records, we do indeed show that for a few of your incoming calls, anonymous is what was received from the underlying carrier, which is what is passed as the caller ID. As far as why you are seeing 16267710198 as the caller ID on the forwarding end, our system will pass the number 16267710198 as the caller ID (this is a generic caller ID) given if the caller ID received isn't in the proper format (1-NPA-NXX-XXXX, i.e. 12125551000); because the caller ID received isn't properly formatted, our system replaces the caller ID number with 16267710198.
So CC generates a bogus CID to pass with the call. Guess I'll need to program my cell to ignore these calls. |

| If you had mentioned the 626 number it would have been clear right away what was happening. That's CC's generic CID replacement. In fact if a CC customer dials *67 to make THEIR call anonymous, that's the CID that will be transmitted.
