Install own software on GoDaddy

Does anyone know if you can install your own software on GoDaddy hosting plans? I'm looking at installing SugarCRM. Any advice would be nice.

Thanks!

thats what i thought. but I can't find much information on GoDaddy's help site for it. They like for you to use their preinstalled Apps- that NEVER work or are horribly slow to even access.

Do you have FTP access and PHPMyAdim or some other way to configure/admin MySQL databases?

Do you have MySQL? If so, do they give you a GUI to manage it? Command line is no fun.

hottboiinnc,

First off, thanks for choosing GoDaddy.com to host your site.

I haven't personally tested a SugarCRM install, but I've found posts on the sugarcrm.com forums in which people discuss successfully installing the app. So, I don't expect you would have a problem.

To answer TearAbite's question, assuming you have a shared hosting plan with GoDaddy.com, you should have both FTP access and phpMyAdmin. However, before you can manage a domain with phpMyAdmin, you need to create it. Here are two article from our Help Center that should be of use to you:

Creating a database: »community.godaddy.com/he ··· c=smfor1
Managing your database with phpMyAdmin: »community.godaddy.com/he ··· c=smfor1

I do hope this is helpful for you. If you have any other questions, we have 24/7 Support available. Call or email any time. Contact info: »community.godaddy.com/su ··· c=SMFOR1

GoDaddy probably has the single worse website in the history of websites.

As much as this won't be helpful right away I almost have to suggest you find a better host, a host with Cpanel would make your life so much easier.

that way everything is on a single webpage instead of GoDaddy's convoluted system.

And you can normally get Shell access if you need it.

And of course ftp, phpmyadmin etc all easy to use with a good cpanel host.

And typically better prices too!
