Hello Everyone

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience any of these VPN providers.

»hidemyass.com/

Thanks

Re: What is the Best VPN Service Provider ?

(Disclaimer: I do some consulting for one of the larger VPN providers, not on the list above. The founders are folks with whom I worked at a Tier-1 ISP back in the day, so I know they know how to run a network.)

My personal feeling as a network engineer is that many of them are very modest enterprises, and not all seem to be particularly professional in how they go about things. That may translate to low prices, but if the entire service consists of one box in someone's house, I might steer clear.

I also think a choice probably should be guided by several things, depending on how you plan to use it:
1) Your personal threat model. That is, against what are you trying to protect yourself?
--monitoring
--restrictive filters
--geolocation restrictions

2) What sort of usage are you contemplating?
Video streaming may work better through some than others, for example.

3) Do they have POPs in places best suited to your usage?
You may need a server close to certain places to which you wish to connect for particular kinds of usage.

4) Do they support the assortment of client hardware/software you intend to use?
Some only support the stock capabilities that come with your PC/phone operating system, while others have their own application software designed for ease of configuration/finding POPs, etc.

5) Do they support the VPN protocols you wish to use?
If you're doing international travel, sometimes the right VPN configuration is a bit of a "moving target" as things change in response to national filtering, for example.

6) What does customer support look like?
Some places provide their only support through discussion forums, while others have live support by chat or phone or both.

I hope that helps. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

hello bigdaddy,

Yes, i'm using VyprVPN (Golden Frog) by my Giganews Usenet account. Their VPN Service is excellent, easy to use and very reliable. Great to protect my online privacy... no disconnections The speed has always been very good within own country selection like US. The price is very reasonable with an Usenet Access. Then, I can't comment on the support service as i have never needed to use it.

To finish, a quick tips if you don't have a Giganews Account... Check the link just below, which is coming from a VPN Comparison Engine. You will find a $5 Off Coupon: »www.goldenfrog.com/landing/vyprv···D13&opt=

If I was homeland security I would either run or infiltrate all of these 'modest' untraceable providers.

I been using orverplay from Thailand to the USA. I lose lots of speed in speedtest but still much better then Hydmyass. I could not use hydemyass open server and the PPTP server was very very slow. I am on a 16 MB connection and get a good 5 MB on overplay some times even up to 8 or more. I use it for Video streaming so high quality and speed it very important

Re: What is the Best VPN Service Provider ?

Which is the best provider depends on many factors including what you need it for.

If you need it for home use I would suggest »www.tunngle.net/index.php?l=en

If for business use I would suggest »www.interoute.com/enterprise/vpn

I've used both of these and found they both offered a good service. The top one is a free service but adequate for personal use. I thought the other was a top quality business service.

This is an MPLS technology solution mainly used to connect together different branches of a company. It's like having a LAN around the world.

This is not the same kind of service as what StrongVPN.com and other similar providers offer.

If you demand privacy it isn't vice to choose a VPN provider based in your country.
This VPN provider may be forced to allow taping into your connections and to reveal anything to authorities.
For instance: if your country authorities reinforce copyright protection VPN physically based in your country must reveal your downloads of copyrighted content by demand of your country's authorities.
Or: if there are government rules exist that mandate to monitor and reveal content of your emails, they would be legally required to cooperate in such actions.

I can also recommend kebrum vpn service. I have no problems accessing the websites which were blocked for me due to my location. And definitely the privacy protection is guaranteed on a high level. I've started with the trial version of kebrum.com and now I use its paid version which is not expensive at all.
