 | [billing] Bogus FairPoint Bill? A year ago I dumped FairPoint because of poor service, and changed my phone & internet to Time-Warner. Imagine my surprise when I received --- out of the blue --- a bill from FairPoint today for $180.00 for what they are calling "FairPoint Internet." Under my Account Summary, they are telling me that this is a "New Charge" from a previous balance of $0.00. On the detail page, they are telling me that the charge is for "Standard HSI" --- from February to June, 2008!! That's right --- 2008. What the hell is wrong with these people? I always paid my bills as I got them, and when I dumped them and went with Time-Warner a year ago I zeroed out my account with them to make the change, which was reflected in my final statement from FairPoint. It's Saturday, so nobody is answering at FairPoint, of course. :-( Anyone have any ideas about what these people are up to? |

 | Reminds me of the tactics that AOL used years ago, charging people months/years later after the person terminated their account with them.
AOL ended up with a class action lawsuit for pulling that stunt. Fairpoint adopting such tactics? |
