 | [Info] Vantage Pro2 users (wireless) Ok, i have a vantage pro2 weather station and been having problems recently, the outside temp, humidity been showing dashes off and on and getting more frequent, right now its shows dashes on them, seems to happen the most when its wet outside ( had rain last night / this morning)
i have tried resetting the console and even replaced the battery in the ISS, and it still shows dashes, do you think the temp/humidty sensor is failing or has failed? the unit is about 4 years old or so (dont remember exactly when i bought it)

if ya see the history ya can its becoming more frequent
If the sensor is bad where is the cheapest place i find the replacement part for it, ambient has it for $ 85 |

These caps have been known to fail. It seems some are damaged when they were installed. I read something about the damage being caused during install when the leads were bent at 90 degrees to close to the cap body. I've also seen reports were the cap leads corrode in two. You should probably call Davis themselves. They will sell you a new ISS board for a reasonable price. I've even seen them give them for free with problem ISS boards. It's worth the call.
The battery should also be changed every year without fail.
There are other factors like the radio signal getting blocked by something. The Davis site has a ton of reference info on this stuff if you dig around plus the Console manual will tell you how to put the console into a diagnostic mode that will help with radio problems. When this happens, do you also lose wind speed/direction readings?
I assume you have the Weatherlink software. There is a chart or graph that you can pull up that will give you a reception report graph. That can also be very handy for troubleshooting.
It is really hard to tell from the limited data available at WU.
Has it been working OK since you installed the new battery? That one is important as they only last about 1 year depending on how much light the solar panel gets in your area. |

 | i did open up the board area on the ISS and the cap looks fine, i did however disassemble the ISS completly and clean it and put it back to gether and its working for now, and as for the software i bought the virtual weather station from ambientweather.com, as i didnt like the weather link software.
more data on the weather station can be seen here www.weathermuskegon.com |

I also use virtual weather station but only for a local computer. I have three consoles and one does output date via Weatherlink software to a website I put together. I only used Weather link as it was quick and easy and I needed to see my station data at work. I've been too lazy to change it over. Weatherlink can come in handy for diagnostic tests though so if you have a computer you can leave it installed on, it may come in handy.
Hopefully your cleaning and battery change did the trick! |
